My Easy Savory Collard Greens with Smoked Turkey Wings

One of my favorite things to eat are some good collard greens and this recipe is so easy and simple. I'm not a sugar in your collard greens kinda girl so these are not sweet simply savory.


First you will need:

  • 6 Large bunches of fresh collard greens

  • 1 smoked turkey wing

  • Chicken Boullian

Ok so first you're gonna put your smoked turkey wing in a large pot and fill the pot until the smoked turkey wing is covered. Once the turkey wing is covered let it cook for about 1 hour this will season your water before you add your collard greens. While the turkey wing is seasoning the water peel all the greens from the stem. Once your collards are removed from its stem you're gonna roll them up and give them a rough chop. After you've done that you're gonna wash your greens really good in cold water and drain them. By the time you've done that it should be time to add them to the now seasoned water. I like to cook my greens down for about 1hour before I add more water to them. Once you add more water you can cover with a lid and let them cook for about 3hrs. I add my chicken bouillon once they've cooked for about 2.5hrs. When adding the boullian add as much as you like to satisfy your taste buds. I usually eyeball the seasoning depending on how savory I want them if its not savory enough add more. if your greens become too savory you can always add water which will take the saltiness away. Cook them for like 4.5 to 5hrs depending on how tender you like them. After you've cooked them down the smoked turkey wing should be falling off the bone.
